Creating images for the new menu at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course has been one of the hardest assignments Jaime and I have ever had. Not that photographing food is necessarily agonizing, but because we like to eat and the food at the Lodge is delicious. I’d like to go on record by saying that Jaime and I did eat lunch before we went to the Lodge for this shoot. However, it wasn’t long after we started then our stomachs began to growl.
For the shoot, the chef brought us another good looking dish of something he had just prepared about every ten minutes. Fifteen mouth watering dishes in all. I honestly know almost nothing about cooking and baking, but I’d like to think that I know good food when I see it. Somehow, really good tasting food visually registers in our minds as something we want when we see it and photographing the food gave us an up close view to study it.
As the shoot progressed we began to become surrounded with all these dishes of good smelling food and in the back of my mind, I remember hearing Jaime murmur something about how hungry she was. Suddenly I could hear some quiet crunching coming from behind me and as I turn from the camera I could see Jaime munching on the dishes we finished with already. I cannot say I blame her.
We did eat dinner that night at the Lodge and it more than lived up to everything we had been hoping for all day. Honestly, the steak I had was so flavorful that it is with out a doubt in the top two best I have ever had. If you’ve never had the opportunity to dine at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course, Jaime and I highly recommend it. The venue is gorgeous. The staff is knowledgeable. The live music really added to the experience and of course, the food is awesome.
